In 2005, Liaoyuan was identified by the state as an economic transformation pilot for a resource-exhausted city. In June 2005, Jilin was officially established on Fortune Road, Liaoyuan Economic Development Zone. Provincial Northeast Socks Textile Industrial Park Development Co., Ltd., a Northeast Socks Textile Industrial Park that is the largest project in Liaoyuan even in the domestic socks industry, officially started construction in Liaoyuan. The total investment of the project is 1.4 billion yuan, covering an area of 550,000 square meters and a construction area of 450,000 square meters. The park will be constructed in two phases over five years. The output of the first phase reached 2 billion pairs, and the output of the second phase reached 4 billion pairs. After the park is fully completed, 80,000 people will be employed, accounting for 1/10 of the total population in Liaoyuan.
