1. CottonWe
often choose socks made from pure cotton, but "pure cotton" here doesn't mean 100% cotton. Sock experts say there's no such thing as 100% cotton socks. If they were, they would lack elasticity and have to be knitted very widely to fit. Imagine how ill-fitting those socks would be! 100% cotton socks have a very high shrinkage rate and lack durability. Therefore, 100% cotton socks are more often called "cotton socks" than "100% cotton socks." Socks with 75% or more cotton are generally referred to as "cotton socks." Generally, socks with 85% cotton are considered very high-quality cotton socks. Other types of socks require the addition of special fibers to maintain elasticity, durability, and comfort. Polyester, spandex, and nylon are all common special fibers.
2. Spandex
Socks
Spandex is commonly known as an elastic fiber. Spandex has high elasticity and stretchability, stretching 5-7 times faster than natural fibers. Textiles containing spandex can maintain their shape for longer. Adding spandex to socks makes them more flexible, stretchy, and comfortable to wear. They also provide a snug fit, similar to swimwear, preventing slippage.
3. Nylon
Nylon is a unique Chinese synthetic fiber. You may be familiar with the name "nylon," associated with the DuPont company. Its scientific name is polyamide. The first company to synthesize this fiber in China was the Jinzhou Chemical Fiber Factory, hence the name "polyamide." Nylon and nylon share similar properties: high strength and abrasion resistance, making them among the most durable and abrasion-resistant synthetic fibers. They are also lightweight and flexible. Adding nylon to socks helps maintain their strength and elasticity.
4. Nylon
Stockings
Nylon was the world's first synthetic fiber. Its introduction revolutionized the textile industry. And nylon synthesis is considered a major advancement in the synthetic fiber industry.
5. Bamboo Fiber
Bamboo fiber fabric has a soft, beautiful texture, is comfortable to wear, is abrasion-resistant, pill-resistant, absorbs moisture, dries quickly, and has excellent breathability. Unlike viscose fibers such as cotton and wood, bamboo fiber also has antibacterial properties and health benefits. Bamboo fiber contains an antibacterial substance called "bamboo kun," which has natural antibacterial, antimite, and antiodor-resistant properties.
